In the Name of God Amen The twenty second day of December one 
thousand seven hundred and eighty nine I Robert Hart of County 
of Southampton do make order this to be my Last Will and Testament and for 
what temporal Estate it hath pleased God to bestow on me I Dispose 
of in form & manner following 

Imprimis: I give to my son John Hart the plantation where on I now live containing 
one hundred & fifty acres more or less to him with his heirs forever

Item: I give to my son Robert Hart one negro name Ned to him and his heirs 
forever

Item: I give to my son Drewey Hart one Negro name Cate to him and his heirs 
forever 

Item: I land all the rest of my estate to my wife Sarah Hart during her 
Widowhood and if in case there should be any increase from any of my 
Negros from now as Long as they be in the Land of my wife Sarah 
for Robert and Drewry if they should lose either of their negros for 
the loser to have one of the increase if any and if these two sons should 
lose neither of their negros for all the increase to be equally divided 
between all my children

Item: I give my three daughters Avereler Hart Silviar Hart and Sarah Hart three 
Negroes Tony Gray and Rose to be equally divided between them 

Item: At my wife's death or marriage for all the rest of my Estate to be Equally 
divided between all my children

I likewise do appoint Richart Hart my hole and sole Executor of 
this my last will and In witness whereof I have hereunto 
set my hand and seal the day and year first written above

At a Court held for the County of Southampton on 16th day of May 
1797       This Will was proved by the oaths of Joseph and Joseph Hart Jr 
two of the witnesses thereto in ordered to be recorded and the Executor therein named
refusing to take on himself the burden of the Executor thereof Therefore on the 
motion of Jno Hart who made Oath according to Law administration with 
the will annexed is granted him on the Estate of the Testatot on his 
giving bond and Security whereupon &c
